so, birthday parties...
matt's birthday is approaching. i put off planning, because i thought we'd go out for dinner with friends, maybe do something outside the house that didn't really require any real work on my part...
then on sunday, i'm digging through a box of miscellaneous scrapbook supplies with my friend allie, and i run across a package of these cute little playing-card-esque monogram cards a la Bazzill and i voice how i wish i had an excuse to use them. then something stupid comes out of my mouth. something to the effect of "too bad i can't throw matt a poker-themed birthday party so that i could use these on a scrapbook page". (huh?? who said that??) but what i really meant was "ya know, i'm stupid enough to think i can throw together a poker-themed occasion in time for our at-home dinner with friends in less than 5 days."
and because she's never one to object completely to my totally hairbrained ideas, allie points out the self-punishment i would be inflicting, but then hops on board. i love that about her. (i'll listen to three minutes of your voice-of-reason thing, but then you'd better be helping me plan.)
so, here it is: dinner for 6. poker games, complete with a home-made poker table. casino-style buffet food. drinks. party favors in the form of little "money bags" (including the green dollar sign on the front) filled with (gold & silver) candy. fairly simple. but it'll still take me all week to prepare.
fun though, huh? pictures of my new hair tomorrow. well, old hair. new style.
