10 Things I Wish I Had Known In Highschool

meme challenge #7 on 2Peas

this comes at a very fitting time for me. last weekend, i pulled out my boxes of highschool memories and sorted through them, in preparation of creating a scrapbook that will cover the highlights of the four years. some memories are still fresh, but others came flooding back as i read notes, cards, looked at pictures and ticket stubs... i was happy then, but by my senior year, i was sick of it, so i worked hard to graduate a semester early... that's why i'm only scrapbooking the highlights. no need to relive every detail.

oh boy. here's goes...

1. you will have forgotten many of the daily dramas of soap-operatic highschool by the time you're 20, so don't let them attribute to depression of any kind now.

2. boys are boys are boys. they will always be boys. and by the way, they mature waaaay slower than girls. keep this in mind.

3. do NOT spend your waking moments daydreaming about the boys you want to date, because you'll find that you've created him into a sort of Mr. Perfect, and when you finally do date him, you'll be shocked at how wrongly you portrayed him in your dreams.

4. [i'm thinking this one to myself, but not disclosing it for the protection of those who might read this.]

5. the types of friends you have are way more important than the types of circles they run in. if they're cool, and don't treat you like a true friend, they are *so* not worth the effort.

6. believe it or not, your parents really were your age once, and they really do know what they're talking about. mostly. ;)

7. these are some of the best, but most vulnerable years of your life. you'll remember the "big" things forever. the excitement of your first kiss, the fun of band trips, and sadly, the pain of broken hearts. enjoy it, but be careful.

8. regular soda will do nothing but rot your teeth and add pounds. avoid it at all costs. try water. it's cheaper.

9. just because you are not a size 6 does not mean that you're not gorgeous. (how i'd kill for my 16 year old body now!!)

10. college is not for everyone, and don't let anyone tell you that. we live in a big, big world. take time and explore, decide what you really want to do, and then do it.
